For the past four years, Kyra scadden, 6th grader at Hill Middle School, has been hosting a fundraiser to raise money to find a cure for SMA, a disease that afflicts her friend and fellow student Angie Lee. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), the number one genetic killer of children under age of two, is an often fatal disease that destroys the nerves controlling voluntary muscle movement, which affects crawling, walking, head and neck control, and even swallowing and breathing. The National Institute of Health has predicted that we are within 5 years of a cure (with enough funding)! They have identified the gene that creates the problem, as well as a back up gene that they believe can be the answer.

Mr. Nicky is thrilled that his past accolades will help draw supporters to help Kyra and Angie in their mission to find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. In 2004, Mr. Nicky's hit song “Too Many Beans” reached number 1 on XM Kids radio, remaining in the top 13 for 24 weeks. His nationally published CDs are being played on satellite stations and web casts across the country, distributed on sites such as iTunes and From January through July 2010, Mr. Nicky was the resident family musician at Club Med's Sandpiper resort in Port St. Lucie, Florida. As his career continues to grow, Mr. Nicky hopes his music will continue to help children around the world who are suffering from diseases or lack of basic necessities.
