Spring Gamelan Concert
Dear Friend of the Gamelan,
We hope that you can join us for a memorable evening of traditional and contemporary gamelan music on
Sunday, May 1, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Hyde Park Union Church, 5600 S. Woodlawn Avenue in Chicago. Our program will include traditional Javanese favorites, an American folk song, and the premiere of an original composition by Patrick Liddell, one of our own players. We're also cooking up a few surprises that you will just have to see for yourself!
We will once again be performing in the visually and acoustically enthralling sanctuary of Hyde Park Union Church. Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience firsthand the sights and sounds of Javanese gamelan, one of the world's great "unplugged" musical traditions.
Suggested donation is $15 or $5 for students with University of Chicago ID and children under 12.
As always, you can visit http://www.chicagogamelan.org/ for the latest news, online videos, etc.
